Filling Procedure

Today, filling materials are widely used to become more beautiful. Utilizing the possibilities of developing technology in recent years, different fillers have been produced for many types and purposes. In general, the main substance of fillers is hyaluronic acid which is normally found in the human body. Hyaluronic acid is a safe substance that has FDA and CE approvals and does not have any side effects other than redness and mild swelling caused by needles. Fillers are very easy to use. The procedure time is usually 10 to 15 minutes. Anesthesia is not required for the procedure. It is sufficient to apply local anesthetic creams half an hour before the procedure. After the procedure, no dressing or special care is required and there is no scar. All these features have made its use very common. Depending on the place of use and the properties of the filler, the permanence of the filler can usually vary between 6 months and 14 months. This duration can also vary between individuals. There are also longer-acting fillers.

Areas Where Fillers Can Be Used

One of the most important features of facial beauty is volume. Full lips and cheeks, high cheekbones, and chin are the features that make the human face more attractive. The most common use of fillers is to give volume to the face.

Reducing fine and deep wrinkles is another common use of fillers. Fillers can be injected into the skin to reduce fine wrinkles and under the skin to reduce deeper wrinkles.

Hyaluronic acid, which is the main ingredient in fillers, is a very strong water retainer. With this feature, it makes the skin look more bright and healthy. In some new filler types, some antioxidant substances have been added to revive the skin-rejuvenating properties of the fillers.

If we list the areas where fillers are used

  • Adding volume to cheeks and face
  • Lip thickening
  • Making the chin tip more protruding or optionally more oval
  • Correcting fine and deep wrinkles on the face
  • Making the skin look more vivid and brighter
  • Correcting tear groove deformity (significant depression in the lower eyelid near the nose)
  • Reducing nasolabial line (cheek line)
  • Reducing acne and other scars
  • Reducing wrinkles on the hands

My Thoughts About Fillers Use

No matter how simple fillers seem, they are extremely powerful weapons for beauty. Ease of use and variety of products have unfortunately made these substances much more dangerous. This danger has mainly two aspects. The first is the type and quality of the material used. Every day, new substances and some illegal products are introduced to the market. The main purpose of marketing these products is to make the process cheaper. However, cheap products are not safe to use as I explained above, and some of them can be very harmful and can threaten your health.

Another danger is the ease of use of these products, and the widespread use of these products by many doctors and people who are not even physicians. Fillers are effective weapons used for beauty. Therefore, it is very important that the fillings are made by a doctor who has a good aesthetic understanding. It is very important to decide what effect it will have on which person’s face and it may cause a problem if it is applied even 0.1 ml more or less. At this point, exaggerated filler applications without a good aesthetic understanding are seen in many celebrities in our country and even in world-famous people. The trouble is that these people think they become more beautiful with these applications. In other words, a different beauty concept has been formed between these people and their practitioners, unfortunately. As a Plastic Surgery Specialist, I can assure you that although beauty is relative, it is not so relative. After all, beauty is not such a simple concept, and the main element of beauty is not just volume; if it were, women with the fullest cheek would be the most beautiful ones. The beautiful appearance of a face depends on the harmony and proportion of the formations on the face and the feeling of the light and shadows of these formations on the opposite side.

Therefore, I recommend you have your fillings made by a doctor whose aesthetic perception is really developed. Since plastic surgeons constantly deal with aesthetics, they are advantageous because they develop their aesthetic concept and imagination by observing the shape changes and the appearance they will create on the face. Of course, not all plastic surgeons are the same, but my advice to you is to make sure that your doctor has a good command of aesthetic concepts.
